Heritage is a fast-playing legacy game. In each game, players collect characters from a shared pool for their bloodlines. These characters affect various vampiric "battlegrounds" and help in completing historical missions. For example, a noble warrior might aid Joan of Arc in ending the Siege of Orleans while altering the balance of an internal vampiric power struggle or attracting the unwanted attention of the Inquisition. Besides collecting characters in their bloodline, players can also use the unique intrigue cards of the clan they are playing and change the game rules to suit the character of that particular clan. Additionally, players can permanently turn some mortals into vampires by taking the cards out of their sleeves and flipping them over, revealing their vampiric side and givi.
